Application Process
Specific application procedures apply for different groups of applicants. Please find out here which procedure applies to you.
Application Process: Uni-Assist
This procedure applies to the following persons:
- All persons with foreign university entrance qualifications who do not belong to one of the groups of persons listed in the further procedures mentioned here.
- Applicants who have attended a preparatory college (Studienkolleg) in Germany and are applying for an undergraduate degree programme at JLU.

- Please note: An FSP certificate from a German Studienkolleg does not constitute a German university entrance qualification.
- Persons who are enrolled at JLU as Studienkolleg students at the time of their application do not need to apply via uni-assist (see application procedure GUDE Application Portal).
- Persons applying for Master's programmes who have a foreign Bachelor's degree.

- This also applies to persons who have a German university entrance qualification (i. e. secondary school-leaving certificate) as well as a foreign bachelor's degree.
You have to apply via uni-assist.
Application Process: Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung
This procedure applies to the following groups of people who are applying for a degree programme with restricted admission (nationwide) and/or for a DoSV degree programme:
- Germans with foreign university entrance qualifications.
- EU citizens & EEA nationals (Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland).
- Foreign nationals with German university entrance qualifications.

- Please note: An FSP certificate from a German Studienkolleg does not constitute a German university entrance qualification.
- Foreign nationals residing in Germany whose family members (spouses, parents or children) hold German/EU/EEA citizenship.
To apply, you must first register with the Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung (Hochschulstart). There, you will receive a BID and BAN number. The Hochschulstart website is only available in German.
Application Process: GUDE Application Portal
This procedure applies to the following persons:
- Persons with a German university entrance qualification who are applying for an undergraduate programme with no admission restrictions at JLU.

- Please note: An FSP certificate from a German Studienkolleg does not constitute a German university entrance qualification.
- Persons applying for a Master’s programme at JLU,

- who have already completed a Bachelor’s degree at a German university;
- or who are enrolled in a Bachelor's programme at a German university and, at the time of application, have earned at least 80% of the total credit points required to complete that programme.
- Persons applying for PhD studies at JLU.
- Persons applying for a higher semester at JLU.
- Persons who are enrolled at JLU at the time of their application:

- This also applies to persons who are enrolled as Studienkolleg students at JLU.
- This does not apply to exchange, VIP or free mover students; you must apply via uni-assist.
