Shaping the digital future together

This year, the nationwide Digital Day is taking place once again—an initiative aimed at promoting digital inclusion and making the digital transformation in Germany accessible to everyone.

Motto: Digital Security: Understand. Educate. Trust.

As a university, we are not only a place of knowledge, but also a highly sensitive data environment. Cybersecurity, data protection, and digital sovereignty are now essential prerequisites for excellent research and innovative teaching.

Digital Day 2026 offers us an opportunity to deepen the dialog on digital transformation. It is an invitation to take advantage of the opportunities presented by this transformation, but also to critically reflect on the associated risks and challenges.

In recent years, JLU has supported Digital Day with a centrally coordinated program. For 2026, we have decided to shift our focus: We want to highlight the diversity of our departments, institutes, and initiatives.

There will therefore be no centrally organized university program.

Instead, we’d like to encourage you to make Digital Day 2026 your own stage! Whether it’s a workshop, an open online lecture, a project showcase, or a discussion on digital topics—we warmly invite all students, faculty, and staff to organize their own events.

Here’s how you can take part in Digital Day 2026:

  1. Plan your campaign: Come up with a format that reflects your work or your interest in digital transformation.
  2. Sign up: Register your event directly via the official Digital Day event map: https://digitaltag.eu/aktion-anmelden
  3. Get noticed: By registering on the official website, your initiative will become part of a nationwide movement and will be visible to interested parties throughout Germany.
