Application Requirements
Before submitting your application for admission, please make sure you have familiarised yourself with the degree programmes offered at JLU. You can find detailed information on admission requirements and possible combinations on the pages for the respective degree programmes.
Language Requirements
Among other things, all applicants must show proof of having sufficient language skills to study at JLU.
University Entrance Qualification
You will have to show proof of your university admission eligibility (e. g. school-leaving certificate, high-school diploma) when you apply at a university in Germany. Please check the Information System for Foreign Applicants (anabin) to find out whether you can start studying directly at a German university. The anabin website is only available in German. If you cannot find results for your personal education history, please contact the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) directly.
Preparatory College (Studienkolleg)
Some applicants are required to attend a preparatory college (Studienkolleg) before they can begin studying at JLU. Information on this can also be found in the anabin database. The preparatory college has earlier application deadlines than regular study programmes. You apply for a preparatory college by applying at JLU via uni-assist and choosing the degree programme you wish to pursue after the preparatory college. Uni-assist will automatically assign you to a preparatory course if this is required in your case. You can find a list of JLU's undergraduate degree programmes and their corresponding specialised preparatory courses here.
APS
Applicants with academic qualifications from the People's Republic of China, Vietnam and India must submit, among other things, a certificate from the Academic Evaluation Centre (APS) in their home country when they apply. The APS certificate must be submitted within the application deadline (e. g. via uni-assist).
Application Documents
Application via Uni-Assist
When applying via uni-assist, applicants must hand in mandatory application documents. Additional documents may need to be submitted as well; information on this can be found on the website of the respective degree programme.
Application for Human Medicine or Dentistry (“Ausländerquote“)
Applicants for human medicine and dentistry who are applying via the foreign student quota (see Application Process) may submit additional documents alongside the minimum mandatory application documents to improve their ranking among the applicants. Detailed information on the selection process and the NC values for previous semesters can be found here.
Application for a Medicine Degree Programme via Hochschulstart
Applicants for a degree in (dental, human or veterinary) medicine who apply via Hochschulstart must submit their documents directly to Hochschulstart. Please check with Hochschulstart to find out which documents are required. The Hochschulstart website is only available in German.
Application via JLU’s GUDE Portal
The following documents must be uploaded to the GUDE application portal with any application request:
- University entrance qualification (including certified translation into German or English, if applicable).
-
- If applicable: FSP-certificate from a Studienkolleg.
- If applicable: Proof of German language proficiency in accordance with the language requirements for German-taught degree programmes at JLU.
- Additional documents may be required, depending on the degree programme. You will be notified of the required documents in the application portal.
