DAAD scholarships for conferences and lecture journeys

With the congress and lecture journey program of the DAAD active participation of scientists in congresses and lectures abroad will be funded. Therefore, the current scholarly pieces have to contribute to the further scientific development of the scientist.

Please note that this is a translation of the according DAAD website. To apply for a travel grant you need to follow the application procedure via the DAAD portal which is in German .The GGL does not offer these grants and is unable to support individual applications.

 

The DAAD offers the opportunity to fund your active participation in a congress or lecture abroad in two different and independent ways:

A) Funding of participation in scientific conferences abroad

This grant enables active participation in a designated international scientific event (conference, symposium, etc. ) abroad . A close link between the research-related work or plans of the applicant and the theme and the content of the scientific event is required.

Funding amounts:

  • The valid DAAD travel allowance
  • financial contribution to the conference fee
  • substitence allowance for the period of participation in the event.

Application process and required documents:

  • Applications can be submitted in German or English (Application form is only available in German!)
  • Reasons for an application (Letter of motivation)
  • Letter of recommendation by your supervisior
  • Official confirmation letter
  • Abstract (short description of your lecture, poster etc.)
  • Assurance that no other funding exists
  • Amount ot the conference fee and duration of the event

Application Deadline:

  • Applications have to be submitted to the DAAD no later than four months before the 1st Day of the congress.

B) Funding of lecture journeys abroad

This grant enables scientists to accept written invitations from foreign colleagues or scientific institutions  to report on their own current research and academic work and share experiences with scientists of the host country outside of conferences, symposia, seminars, workshops, etc.

Funding amounts:

  • The valid DAAD travel allowance.

Application process and required documents:

  • Applications can be submitted in German or English (Application form is only available in German!)
  • Reasons for an application
  • Letter of recommendation by your supervisor
  • Letter of invitation
  • Abstract (short description of your lecture)
  • Assurance that no other funding exists

Application Deadline:

  • Applications have to be submitted to the DAAD no later than four weeks prior to depature.


  • Who is eligble for funding?

Eligible for support are renowned scientists and PhD students that are integrated into the German science system and plan to stay in a long term in Germany as well as German scholars sponsored by German organizations abroad, that can not obtain financing for lecture and conference trips.
