It’s been one and a half years since we started with MUN and it has been an amazing journey. The first conference we attended was SiegMUN 2021, which was followed by NMUN 2022 in New York.
These conferences inspired us to organize our very own GiMUN in September 2022 and September 2023, where we chaired a GA crisis session and also for the first time held a session of the United Nations Security Council.

MUN has been great ever since I participated in my first GiMUN in Gießen, learning about nations, politics and furthering my geopolitical knowledge in such a format really opens up a realm of possibilities.

Discussing sensitive topics, like global issues and different cultural aspects with people who have completely opposite views is something I greatly enjoy.

Since this is my second time participating at NMUN, I am honored to be supporting the team as a head-delegate this time around. I look forward to representing a vastly different country and experiencing the beauty of an international Model United Nations conference once again!

Delegates

Mahdi Mohseni, Student of Law

Law student with a focus on international law and European law.

Law and politics are two elements that regulate the relations of states at the international level. The theoretical and practical understanding of this combination of elements can help me develop more rational thinking. In addition, the exchange alongside my co-delegate in this committee “CSW” with other delegates from other countries with different backgrounds is only enriching. I am extremely pleased to be able to cover these two elements simultaneously as the delegate of the Lebanese Republic in NMUN.

Felix Dittmar, Student of Philosophy, Political Science and Business & Economics

I’m Felix, 22 years old and currently studying Philosophy, Political Science as well as Business & Economics at JLU Gießen. After my Abitur in 2018 I became an IT-Systems Engineer and specialized in data privacy and security.

Politics and diplomacy has always been a great interest of mine and has connected me to many ideas, people and initiatives I still follow today, which is why I ultimately decided to apply for the Giessen NMUN team. Before participating at GiMUN in 2023, I’ve been active in local politics in my home district as well as in my union’s youth department.

Experiencing the U.S. for the first time and meeting interesting people from all over the world, I look forward to representing Lebanon at the UNEA committee during NMUN 2024 in New York.

Youness Chaou, student in Transition Management

My name is Youness Chaou, I am 28 years old and I am a master’s student in Transition Management, with a focus on environmental aspects. I am also working in development cooperation, specifically in the department of environment and climate change.

As Pericles once said, ‚You may not be interested in politics, but politics is interested in you.‚ I strongly believe that if you do not actively practice politics, it will be practiced upon you. I have always been interested in international politics, and I consider diplomacy to be one of the most effective means of bringing political matters to the international table.

Participating in NMUN provides me with the opportunity to practice international politics and diplomacy. Moreover, it allows me to explore international institutions such as the UN.

Johannes Wagner, student of Law

I’m Johannes Wagner, 21 years old and a third semester law student at JLU. Having long been interested in international politics and relations, participating in the National Model United Nations struck me as an outstanding opportunity to gain first insights into the world of international diplomacy. Moreover, I believe that taking part in the National Model United Nations provides a great opportunity to further my English skills both generally and in the legal realm and advance my general soft skills.
Over the course of the semester I hope to engage with and meet many people with a similar interest in international relations and learn about the works of international diplomacy.

Luisa Keller, student of Law

My Name is Luisa, and I’m a fifth semester law student at JLU. I have always been interested in the culture of other countries and enjoyed meeting new people with different backgrounds and knowledge than me. GiMUN and NMUN are a great opportunity to experience this on a larger scale. Furthermore, it is also a great addition to my law studies, because we get to see how diplomacy works and how it affects law.

Kilian Elias von Beckedorff, medical student

I really enjoy being part of this delegation, consisting of people from such diverse backgrounds. By the way, my name is Kilian von Beckedorff, 22 years old and a fourth-year medical student specialising in international aspects of healthcare at JLU’s SPC Global Health. After some work experience abroad, I firmly believe that interlinking health, environment, economics, law and culture is key to overcoming current and future global problems. Besides, it is simply not possible to have healthy people on a sick planet. I am generally up for any new adventure, such as representing Lebanon at GA1 of NMUN 2024 in New York.

Sabrina Ohm, student of Law

My name is Sabrina. I graduated in Fashion with a bachelor’s degree a few years ago. Now, I am studying law at the JLU in Giessen.

International humanitarian law and international criminal law are subjects I am particularly interested in. Every MUN is a unique experience and an ideal opportunity to learn more about international relations and practice diplomatic skills. Attending NMUN for the first time will be a personal highlight.
I look forward to meeting new people from other countries and making unforgettable memories.

Burak Türkmen, student of Law

I’m Burak Türkmen, 22 year’s old and studying law in my 6th semester at the Justus-Liebig-University in Gießen. During my studies I have developed a keen interest in the field of international law and its intersection with politics. I am eager to contribute my knowledge and skills to the NMUN team while gaining valuable insights into the workings of the United Nations. In this sense, I see this role as an excellent opportunity to actively participate in tackling global challenges. After my participation’s in GiMUN and SiegMUN, I’m looking forward to represent Lebanon with my co-delegate at the NMUN in New York next year.

Hey friends, my name is Aya, I am 21 years old and I am currently in my fifth semester of law at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen. In my free time, I also participate in the Refugee Law Clinic and do social political work with an organization that I have co founded. As a person , I would describe myself to be very passionate about political topics and activism, therefore I am really looking forward to broaden my political knowledge at the NMUN next year.

Laetitia Bläser, Student of Law

Hello, I’m Laetitia!

I am presently in my third semester of law school, having initially explored natural science. I’ve always been interested in how culture and law are shaped in different countries. Hence, the Model UN experience is definitely helpful for gaining insight into that as well as the political dimensions of international cooperation and diplomacy. I look forward to meeting like-minded people, discussing solutions to political matters and enjoying the journey together!

Anton Hopperdietzel, student of Law

Hi there! My name is Anton Hopperdietzel and I am thrilled to be participating in the New York Model United Nations. I am a 20-year-old law student currently studying in Gießen. I have always been passionate about international relations and diplomacy, and I believe that participating in this conference will be an incredible opportunity to learn more about these topics and to meet other like-minded individuals from around the world.

Paula Altmann, student of Law

My name is Paula, I am 22 years old, and I am currently studying nutrition at JLU. Growing up in Brussels, international politics and institutions such as the European Union have always been a constant part of my surroundings. In school, I joined the MUN-team and had the opportunity to go to two different MUN conferences, which were intimidating at first, but ended up being very fun and instructive, as well as rewarding experiences.

I enjoy debating and researching current events, and am very delighted to be representing Lebanon alongside my co-delegate in the GA3.

Johanna Henrieke Banse-Reccius, student of Law

I’m Johanna Henrieke Banse-Reccius, 23 years old and a law student in the ninth semester at JLU, with a focus on European and International Law. Liam Lüders, Student of Intercultural Communication and Economics

Heya, I’m Liam!

This is my second time participating at NMUN, and I am honored to be a part of this delegation as a head delegate. My last experience was enlightening and really insightful, doing it again with the experience and knowledge I bring from last time as well as being able to present it to a new delegation is a great privilege.

MUN has been great ever since I participated in my first GiMUN in Gießen, learning about nations, politics and furthering my geopolitical knowledge in such a format really opens up a realm of possibilities.
