Job starters and job seekers experience high amounts of stress and have to face a wide range of challenges including anxiety from finding a job and related visa issues, performing well on job interviews, coping with rejections, and succeeding in the first phases after starting a job. Because of these challenges it is unsurprising that studies show that recent graduates are at risk of burnout and depression. Job starters and job seekers therefore need resources to cope with stress and the emotional ramifications of this particular phase in their career.

In this seminar, participants learn about stress, factors related to stress, and, most importantly, strategies to cope with stress and negative emotions. A core element of this course is meditation, which has been shown to be an effective buffer against and source of resilience for many populations. In addition, participants identify their most pressing challenges regarding their job search or initial phase on the job, and develop solutions on how to best address them.
