Since December 2025, Dr. Pavlina Miteva-Bölter has taken over the role of scientific coordinator of the “International PhD Program for Agricultural Economics, Bioeconomy and Sustainable Food Systems" (IPPAE) at the Justus-Liebig-University Giessen. She holds a doctoral degree in political science, and her work focused on how international organizations influence the adoption of new policies at the national level. She examined this particularly in the Latin American context, with an emphasis on policies related to coastal and marine governance. Prior to this present position, Pavlina has been engaged in a Horizon Europe project on agrifood systems and underutilised crops. Before coming to the University of Giessen she has been leaving and working for several years in Mexico, where, among else, she has been active as a lecturer and a researcher in the field of food security and rural development.
