Grants
As students of Justus Liebig University Giessen you may receive financial support within the Erasmus+ Traineeship programme for internships abroad both directly administered by JLU Giessen and in the framework of membership in a mobility consortium (Regional Contact Point for Erasmus Placements in Fulda).
Grants through the university
The monthly rates are calculated according to the cost of living in different groups of countries. Check the country you are planning to visit below for the amount of the monthly grant you can expect.

Top-up for Green Travel and for Students with Fewer Opportunities
- Participants travelling abroad in an environmentally friendly way (outbound and/or return journey) can apply for 1-6 additional travel days. Green travel is defined as travelling using low-emission modes of transport such as bus, train or carpooling for the majority of the journey.
- Participants of the following target groups can apply for a top-up of € 250.00 per month if they fulfil the respective requirements.
- Students with disabilities
- Students with chronic illness
- Students going abroad with child/children
- First-time university graduates
- Employed students whose job is not continued during their stay abroad

Regional Contact Point for Erasmus Traineeships and University-Business Cooperation
JLU is a member of the Network for Erasmus Traineeships and University-Business Cooperation. Erasmus+ funding for internships is also available through this consortium. If your stay takes place during the period in which internships are supported through this network, the International Office will provide you with further information.

Financial contribution towards language classes
We may be able to give you a maximum of € 200 towards the fee for a language course held at a university or at a language centre at the locality of your internship abroad before or during your internship. Please provide us with a certificate of the language course and proof of payment of the invoice.
