How do I apply?

The application period for the winter semester 2026/27 starts on Monday, 15 June 2026 and ends on Friday, 31 July 2026.

Step 1: Online application for a graduation scholarship

International students can apply for a graduation scholarship online on our website within the deadline.

To do so, first complete the web form provided and upload the following documents directly to the website:

  • A detailed curriculum vitae
  • A report on your social situation (justification of your application, stating what you have to do in order to graduate and when you intend to complete your studies; ca. 1 DIN A4 page). This can be written in either German or English.
  • Enrolment certificate (Studienbescheinigung) for the winter semester 2026/27
  • Proof of past financing (last 6 months: January 2026 – June 2026) in the form of bank statements and, if applicable, employment contracts and payslips, as well as future financing (next 6 months: July 2026 – December 2026)  in the form of an estimate of available financial resources and, if applicable, employment contracts
  • Proof of previous academic achievements in the form of a current transcript of records / FlexNow printout, assignation of practical year or similar

Please make sure to submit complete documents.

You also need a total of two qualified reviews from two different professors or teaching postdocs at JLU.

The forms have to be sent directly to the International Office by e-mail by the issuing experts: international.students. The template for the qualified review can be found here.

Step 2: Personal interview

Once the application deadline has passed, your documents will be reviewed in detail. If your application is complete and meets the formal requirements, we will invite you to a personal interview, during which you will have the opportunity to explain the reasons for your application in more detail. The interviews will take place between 7 and 18 September. You will receive further details by email.

Step 3: Scholarship approval or rejection

Afterwards, the scholarship commission decides on the application and, in the case of funding, on the amount and period of funding. Applicants will receive an email from the International Office at the end of October/beginning of November 2026 informing them of their acceptance or rejection.
