Please note our application deadlines and enclose one of the following documents with your application for a German-taught degree programme. Please note that you may need to provide higher-level proof for your enrolment.
DSH-1 Level
- DSH-1 result
- TestDaF: min. 14 points
- B2 certificate (non-scaled), issued by: Goethe Institute, ÖSD or TELC
- ZMP (Zentrale Mittelstufenprüfung)
- Certificate stating that you have studied German for more than 1000 hours at a state school or institute of higher education
- A degree in German Studies (attained outside Germany).
- Confirmation of having passed the C1 German intensive course at JLU
Important Information for Medicine Applicants
If you are applying via uni-assist for a degree programme in medicine (human, dental or veterinary) at JLU, you must submit a higher-level German certificate which is sufficient for enrolment at JLU by the end of the application deadline at the latest.
German citizens, EU citizens, EEA citizens (Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland) and foreign citizens with German university entrance qualifications must apply for a medicine programme via hochschulstart.de and must provide proof of their German language skills upon enrolment. Enrolment is not possible without sufficient proof of German language skills. Please note: Due to time constraints, you cannot take the DSH exam at JLU Giessen immediately before enrolment. We therefore recommend that you choose another German language exam, including external ones, as enrolment must be finalised as early as February (for a summer semester) or August (for a winter semester) in some cases.
Important Information for Preparatory College Applicants (Studienkolleg Mittelhessen)
The language requirements for the Studienkolleg Mittelhessen are lower than for a regular degree programme at JLU. Applicants must submit one of the following certificates:
- B2 certificate from a German intensive course at JLU
- Level 4 of the intensive language courses of Marburg University
- telc B2 (also: telc B2 Beruf)
- Goethe certificate B2
- TestDaF 4 x TDN 3
- DSH-1
- ÖSD certificate B2
- DSD II
