DSH-Exam at JLU
If you have applied for a degree programme at JLU but have only provided proof of German language proficiency sufficient for application (see point “1. Application”), you may register for the DSH exam at JLU. You do not need to take the DSH exam if you have already submitted one of the German language certificates listed under point “2. Enrolment” with your application.
Exam Participation and Preparation
The DSH exam usually takes place in March and September. We guarantee that you receive your exam results in time for your enrolment in a degree programme at JLU.
Immediately before the examination dates, preparatory training will take place, usually from Monday to Thursday from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Participation in the course (free of charge) is strongly recommended.
Rules pertaining to the DSH exam at JLU
- Participation in the exam is subject to a fee of EUR 140.
- If your exam fee payment has not been received by JLU at least 10 days before the written part of the DSH, you will not be allowed to take the DSH exam.
- You may retake the DSH exam twice.
- Therefore, when registering for the exam, you must indicate whether you have previously sat a DSH exam and, if so, at which university.
- Incorrect information will result in the annulment of your exam results.
- If there are more registrations for the DSH examination than places available, the best applicants will be selected.
- If you do not get a place in the DSH examination, you will be informed at least six days before the written part of the DSH exam by email to the email address provided on the registration form.
- Your exam fee will be refunded in this case.
If you pass the examination with a result of DSH-2 or DSH-3, you may enrol in the German-taught degree programme at JLU for which you have been admitted.
The results of all passed exams will be sent directly to JLU’s Admissions Office. You do not need to submit your certificate to us yourself for enrolment. The exam certificate will be issued at the earliest eight weeks after enrolment at JLU upon presentation of your student ID card. This rule only applies if you have achieved a result of DSH-2 or higher.
