Your research is one of the most important pillars of your academic career. The choice of research topic is shaped by your interests, but the embedding of your position in larger research projects and the current social context can also help determine which topics are currently being researched. Nevertheless, you can shape some aspects of your research profile at an early stage.

In your work as a researcher, you have a special responsibility to make science trustworthy. The Research Department supports you with advice on good scientific practice, on how to handle your research data and on how to use the Research Information System (FIS). The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Department will provide you with information on cooperating with non-university partners in your research.

Successfully acquired third-party funds are not only essential for you as a postdoc since they secure the financing of printing costs, conference travel, research stays, your own position or even a junior research group. They are also an important building block of an academic career, as in many disciplines they are heavily weighted, for example, when filling academic leadership positions.
