Immunomodulation: Lessons from Parasitic Nematodes
21 November 2013, Prof. Susanne Hartmann is Head of
the Institute of Immunology at the Department of Veterinary Medicine, Free
University Berlin. Throughout her academic career, she has been committed to
the investigation of parasites. After her PhD and career entry as Scientific
Assistant, both at the University of Stuttgart Hohenheim, she worked at the
Humboldt University Berlin for 16 years as University Assistant, Group Leader
and Assistant Professor. In her current research at the Free University Berlin,
she focuses on chronic infections with parasitic helminths, particularly
parasitic nematodes, and various aspects of the interactions between host and
parasite. In this guest lecture, she went into detail about the
characteristics of nematodes having an effect on the host’s immune system. Click here for a more detailed CV.
