Justus Liebig University is honored to commemorate the life and death of Mildred Harnack-Fish, student of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduate of Justus Liebig University Giessen.
Mildred Harnack-Fish was born in Milwaukee, USA, and fought against the Nazi regime of injustice as a resistance activist. She was executed in Berlin-Plötzensee prison in 1943.
The black marble stele, installed on the Campus of Cultural Studies and Humanities of JLU, is the counterpart of a sculpture dedicated to the resistance fighter at Lake Mendota in Madison, Wisconsin.
