Orientation Days during the Summer Semester 2026
Dear Master's students, welcome to your new study programme at JLU! To kick off your Master's programme, we cordially invite you to attend the Student Orientation Days, where you will receive all the important information you need to start your studies, and have the opportunity to meet other first-year students in your degree programme.
The Orientation Days for Master's Students take place on 9 and 10 April 2026.
The Orientation Days begin with an introductory event, where you will be welcomed and your small groups for the rest of the week will be formed. Be sure to attend this opening event, as this is where the groups will be assigned! No prior registration is required. You will then spend the two days in your small group, accompanied by student mentors. Here you will get to know your fellow students, have the opportunity to exchange ideas and become familiar with everyday student life step by step. In addition, there will be a subject-specific programme offered by the academic advisors for all Master's students in their first semester.
Your regular studies will then begin with the start of the lecture period on 13 April 2026.
We wish you a great start to your studies and a wonderful start to your Master's programme!

Further Information
Welcoming Ceremony and Interdisciplinary Information
After you have been welcomed to Justus Liebig University Giessen, you will be assigned student mentors from your Master's programme who will support you in getting started. You will receive information about the study and examination administration systems and the module application. The most important organisational matters, such as how to use the library, will be explained and individual questions will also be answered. International students will also be made aware of the
special services offered by the International Students Department
.
So if possible, reserve the two days of the event for your introduction to studying at JLU. The event not only provides you with all important information, but also offers the opportunity to establish the first new contacts in your Master's programme.
As you will also receive an introduction to the electronic systems used at JLU, we recommend that you bring a laptop with you if possible. However, this is not compulsory. Of course, you can also attend without one and receive all the information you need.
ㅤ
Subject-specific Information Events
In subject-specific information events, you will be given the opportunity to
- gain an insight into the study programme and specific module content,
- receive advice on timetabling and course selection,
- discuss your individual study-related questions with university lecturers.
We therefore recommend that you take part in the introductory study events.
