The Support Services for International Students at the International Office is the central point of contact for international degree-seeking students (Bachelor’s, Master’s, State Examination) for all enquiries relating to studying and living in Giessen. From preparing for your stay right through to graduation, we’ll be there to guide you with tailored advice and practical support – whether it’s with administrative matters, everyday student life, or helpful tips for life in the local area.

We also offer walk-in consultation hours. No appointment is required for these.

JustInternational
The JustInternational series is an online programme for (prospective) international students and PhD candidates, in which our student assistants answer questions about living and studying in Giessen. At the same time, the format provides a space for open discussion and getting to know other students.

JustInternational takes place twice a month, at 7.30 pm on each occasion.

- Registrars Office: Responsible for formal academic matters such as admission, enrolment and re-registration.
- Faculties: For specific enquiries regarding the content of your degree programme, please contact the relevant academic departments and their degree programme advisory services directly.
- Studierendenwerk Gießen: Your point of contact for accommodation in student halls of residence, funding your studies and social support.
- Allgemeiner Studierendenausschuss (AStA): The AStA represents students’ interests and offers independent social and legal advice.
- Centre for Competence Development (ZfbK): Courses and events designed to enhance foreign language skills, key competences and the development of job-related skills.
- Zentrale Studienberatung (ZSB): Support with choosing a degree programme, planning your studies and studying in specific life situations.
- Psychological Counselling Service (PBS): The PBS offers free and confidential counselling sessions for those experiencing personal difficulties or study-related stress.
- Immigration Office Giessen: Responsible for all matters relating to residence law, such as applications for and renewals of residence permits (only for people who are resident in Gießen).
- City of Giessen: General information about life, housing, culture and local government in Giessen.
