Passionate and infected with the HPTLC virus, Dimitri Fichou (mid) developed a new open-source software for multivariate data analysis devoted to HPTLC (now here the link). Petar Ristivojevic (left) inspired him for the implementation of tools we need... and together with Thibaut Chasset, they are applying it to nice HPTLC chromatograms. Luckily, as we found ourselves!
Further development of instruments
It was great news that we could improve the mass signals by a factor of 34, obtained after modifications of the Direct Analysis in Real Time interface! It needed real courage to dismantle everything, seeing the whole instrument in its single parts, never being sure that the instrument would work again. No risk, no progress! Read more...
Delegation of the Guizhou Academy of Science
For a long November day, the group visited our lab on effect-directed analysis to conduct experiments together and to get insight into food analysis. They got information on the German and European food safety system, how food is controlled here, who is responsible for what, which protective means and measures we have, and the workflow that starts when food fraud is discovered.
The best poster out of 500 posters
At the 7th International Symposium on Recent Advances in Food Analysis (RAFA 2015) in Prague, Czech Republic, our poster (T.T. Häbe and G.E. Morlock "Office Chromatography: Precise sample application on miniaturized phases, image evaluation and DART-MS scanning") was awarded as "The best poster" (highest prize) out of 500 posters presented. Thank you for this honor! Already two times, the posters on Office Chromatography were nominated for a poster award at the International HPTLC symposia in 2014 and 2011; however, always rejected by me due to my symposium chair. So, we are happy - finally, it happened in an even stronger competition!
A long tradition of abstracting HPTLC papers since 1965
The 115th issue celebrates 50 years of the Cumulative CAMAG Bibliography Service (CCBS)! It is impressive how early this service to HPTLC users was initiated, and that the evolving database filled with 11,000 HPTLC abstracts became such an important tool. A unique consistency as a free service!
Guests on earth
We lost a highly respected scientist of the highest repute in planar chromatography in India. We respectfully met a few times at symposia. For several decades, he was the engine of planar chromatography in India. He was utmost productive in spreading both knowledge and applications. Over the years, he sent me free hardcopies of almost all the books he wrote, which I highly acknowledged. We treasure your scientific contributions and keep your memory alive.
Mrs. Elke Hahn-Deinstrop, the author of the book "Applied Thin-Layer Chromatography: Best Practice and Avoidance of Mistakes, was visiting us.

Kaiserlicher Besuch im Mai
Professor Dr. Rudolf Kaiser und Dr. Olga Kaiser, Institut für Chromatographie, Bad Dürkheim, wollen den Winzern bei der Suche nach funktionaler Analytik für den perfekten Weinausbau weiterhelfen: Auskunft geben "Kaiserogramme" mittels µPLC! Erste Untersuchungen laufen.
Erstes TLC-MS Anwendertreffen
We support the CCCM and its members with regard to streamlined analytical solutions.

Guests on earth
We lost a deeply respected, internationally recognized scientist of the highest repute in planar chromatographic analysis. Every time I met Fritz, it was like meeting the heart of science, because he wrote the Bible. During my doctoral studies, I eagerly read his book and learned the basics of HPTLC. We will keep you as a treasure in our hearts. More details I wrote in memoriam in the obituary published in Acta Chromatographica 27 (2015) 189–194.
Images of our paper Content of carbohydrates in tropical rainforest nectars of Marantaceae using HPTLC were selected to be on the Cover Title Page of J. Planar Chromatogr. Thank you!
Editorial on our review paper
Editorial of Professor C.F. Poole wrote on our review “Miniaturized planar chromatography using office peripherals – Office chromatography”, invited as Editors' Choice IX in Journal of ChromatographyA: "...The application of modified office peripherals and ultrathin layers for planar chromatography is at an early stage of development, but as the accompanying review article indicates, it has as much or more promise than miniaturized systems for column chromatography." Thank you for this great honor!
