More than 14 years experience in the topic, e.g. 8 yrs programme manager at the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) in the Career Division leading two funding schemes for young researchers, and chair of two European Working groups on the topics of a “Conditions of a Research Career in Europe” and “Gender Issues”. Since 2010 Susanne Matuschek runs with MATUSCHEK CONSULTING her own company.

Intended Learning Outcomes

The participants know the most important features and key-elements of a strategic and successful academic career planning and development along the overall question “What makes a successful researcher in academia?”

Content
This workshop provides information on the topic of a successful research career in academia with the following parts, the theory as follows:
_Important developments to be connected to your career development
_Key-elements which contribute to a successful academic career planning:
  main focus on strategic output, career development, mobility/internationality
_How to plan a career development? Career Boosters and Career Blockers
_How does a good network support a career? Research on networking & career
  in science and the direct impact on career development
_Self-management: Dealing with time limitations & stress (how to have more
  balance?) and downs
Practical parts do contain:

_Self-Positioning and Self-Assessments e.g. about personal qualities and skills,
  career development incl. career aims
_Interactive exercise: presentation of analysis by each participant, discussion
  within the group and trainer

Methods
_Minor preparation by participants to be integrated into the Workshop
_Theoretical input with Hand-Out
_Practical exercises with self-assessments along standardized questionnaires
  (remain with the participants), interactive parts, discussions and feedback
  by the trainer

 

Requirements/Preparation by participants:
After the registration deadline, participants will receive concrete information from the trainer about preparation work to be send to the trainer latest by 6. November 2017
