Project B4

Influence of multiphase bone replacement materials and surface-modified titanium alloys on the differentiation of osteoblasts/MSC

Based on previous data on the response of osteoblasts/mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) to titanium surfaces, bone replacement composites, and xerogels as well as the applicability of drugs and drug delivery-systems for the improvement of bone healing, detailed studies concerning osteoporosis-induced cellular and extracellular changes and the underlying molecular mechanisms are planned. Therefore, B4 will examine newly generated biomaterials with osteoblast/MSC of healthy and osteoporotic donors and characterize induced changes.
