Project B7

Influence of aetiology-adapted bone substitutes on the regulation of bone remodeling, microvascularisation and innervation in systemically diseased bone

During the first period of TRR 79 it has been clearly demonstrated that the non-neuronal and neuronal cholinergic system is involved in bone remodeling and connected to the neurotrophin BDNF. The future work will deepen the knowledge of this signal pathway in fracture healing of the systemically diseased bone through conducting of an osteoporotic mouse fracture model with insertion of a BDNF modified bone substation material that will be carefully analyzed in-vitro before implantation. One important focus of the in-vivo investigations in project B7 will be the regulation of lymphangiogenesis as well as microvascularisation.
