LOEWE professorship at University of Marburg for Katharina Höfer

Microbiologist and RTG 2355-PI Katharina Höfer accepted a professorship at the University of Marburg, funded by the LOEWE excellence program of the state of Hessen. Congratulations, Katharina, and we are happy you will stay with us!

Katharina Höfer studied Life Sciences at the Leibniz University Hannover and Molecular Biotechnology at Heidelberg University where she afterwards continued as a doctoral and post-doctoral researcher. Since 2020, she and her Max Planck Research Group "Bacterial Epitranscriptomics" investigate RNA modifications in bacteria and bacteriophages at the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology in Marburg, focussing not only on basic research, but also taking into accout possible future applications.

Within the RTG, Katharina Höfer and doctoral candidate Helene Keuthen characterize molecular mechanisms that regulate RNA stability during infection of Escherichia coli with T4 phage.
