Topics A-Z
During their studies, students may take examinations in more modules than required by the degree programme. The CPs of additional modules are not counted and the results are not included in the calculation of the overall degree grade. Additional modules can be either modules from Faculty 09 or modules from other faculties that have been recognized by the examination board and comply with the Special Regulations of Faculty 09.
Attendance in modules of the faculty 09 as additional modules is possible if seats are available. Availability can be checked in Stud.IP or by contacting the module coordinator.
If you want to attend modules as additional modules, you have to register directly in Stud.IP. These modules shall not be listed in your profile module plan.

All modules are completed with a final examination. Each semester has two examination periods. These are scheduled for the end of the lecture period (1st examination period) and for the end of the semester break (2nd examination period). The exact dates of examination periods are defined by the examination committee each semester and are published on the website in the document Deadlines and Examination Dates .
Registration for Examinations
In order to be entitled to take part in an examination you have to be registered for it. You can decide for each examination whether to take it during the first or second examination period. Each examination period has its own registration and deregistration window, during which you can register in FlexNow. Information on this can be found in the Deadlines and Examination Dates datasheet , which is issued by the Examination Office for each semester. In any case you have to make sure that you are registered for the examination as otherwise the achieved grade will not count. Before the examination takes place the lecturers receive a list of all registered students, which will be checked before starting the examination.
Each examination period has its own registration period, within which you can register in FlexNow.
In the faculty 09, two examination periods are defined each semester:
- The first period lasts two weeks and extends from the last lecture week to the first week of the non-lecture period.
- The second examination period is in the last two weeks before the start of lectures in the following semester
Students can choose between the first or the second examination period. Please note that you must register independently in FlexNow for each examination, including repeat examinations (medical certificate, failed, exam not taken)
Please recheck your data in FlexNow after having performed a registration and verify that you are registered for the correct module examination. Furthermore, please keep the confirmation mail, which you will receive in you university e-mail account, carefully for further questions.
Degregistration
As long as the registration period is still open you can also deregister from an examination in FlexNow without giving reasons. In case you are registered for an examination and you do not take the examination it will be deemed failed.
Problems with exam registration or deregistration
If you experience any problems with exam registration or deregistration, please contact the Examination Office of Faculty 09 by email within the official deadline.
In exceptional cases, when registration or deregistration via FlexNow is not possible, the Examination Office can carry out the process on your behalf. Please note that you will not receive a confirmation from the Examination Office, and no FlexNow transaction key will be issued. You are responsible for checking your exam status in FlexNow promptly.
Registration and deregistration for core and profile modules can be done via email (JLU email addresses only!). The following information must be clearly provided: the reason for registering/deregistering via the Examination Office, the error message from FlexNow, your name, matriculation number, the exam (module code and title), and in the case of exam registration, the previously registered modules that may need to be removed (module code and title).

Examination Regulations
You find the current examination regulations on "Mitteilungen der Universität Gießen (MUG)":
-

Specific Regulations "Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences and Environmental Management" (German)

Specific Regulations "Oenology, Wine Economics, Beverage Technologies" (German)
https://www.uni-giessen.de/mug/7/findex36.html/7_36_09_3_WeOeGe
The General Regulations apply to all study programmes of the university. They define how the final grades are correctly calculated. Certificates are created by a software of the university observing the general regulations.
The faculty 09 provides an English version of the faculty 09 special regulations. The English translation serves solely for purposes of information. The German language version of the examination regulations is the legally binding version.
Justus Liebig University offers various courses to enhance your professional and interdisciplinary skills.
These courses can be recognized as one profile or one additional module as long as the courses are completed with an exam. For recognition one or several course certificates with a total of 6 CPs have to be handed in to the examination office.
Registration for attendance and examinations must be completed directly with the lecturers, as it is not possible to register for these through FlexNow.
Here is an overview of the available courses:
If you do not attend an exam for reasons beyond your control, you have to hand in a proof with a justified reason (e.g. medical certificate) immediately, otherwise the exam will count as failed. For submission please fill in the online form and upload the corresponding proof.
For proof of illness you may print the certificate available here and present it to the doctor, or you can upload a certificate provided by the doctor.
Please use the online form for submission of the corresponding proof / medical certificate.
For modules of Faculty 02, please use the form
here
The completed form must be submitted to Prüfungsamt Wirtschaftswissenschaften.
For your personal documentation please keep the medical certificate. If the certificate is accepted, the examination will not count as failed but has to be repeated during the next possible examination period. This registration is effected automatically.
In the profile module plan you define which profile modules you want to attend in which semester.
On the one hand it is important that you have an overview of the modules you are planning to attend (matching module combinations, setup of your personal schedule – no overlaps) and on the other hand it is the basis for distributing seats in modules with limited capacity.
You can find more information about the Profile Module Plan here .
Academic achievements from other institutions can be recognized and counted towards your degree at Faculty 09, provided they are equivalent in content and scope.
On this page, you will find all the information you need about the recognition process.
