Sand Collection

The base stock of the sand collection initially consisted of over 700 privately owned sand samples from beaches and deserts around the world, which the collector had donated to the Hermann Hoffmann Academy. In February 2023, another private collection was added, which also included the holdings of the former German Sand Museum. This collection now comprises more than 23,000 samples, some of which come from areas that are difficult to access or are no longer accessible at all, including from the deep sea.
